ARQ
Consulting Engineers designed and detailed the 2m raising of
Eikenhof Dam in the Cape Province in such a way that it was possible
to increase the full supply level, whilst increasing the safety of
the dam and without increasing the top level of the 47m high
non-overspill embankment crest.
The very cost-effective raising was achieved by combining a fixed reinforced concrete labyrinth in the existing main chute spillway with straight-crested Hydroplus Fusegates for the existing auxiliary spillway channel. The raising was completed in 1998. (Ref1) |
