General |
|
The region has a generally mild climate
although temperatures may be extremely high during northerly
"berg" winds. The region receives 50 percent of the
possible sunshine (Schulze, 1965).
A high incident of cloud, frequent light drizzle, coastal fogs and changeable weather are characteristic of the region. (Ref 1) |

The mountains in the
vicinity of George receive about 1 100mm per annum whereas the plains
south of Riversdale in the west of the region receive only 400 mm.
Normally there are 8 - 12 rain days a month. The rain is mainly cyclonic or orographic. (Ref 1) |
