General
Knysna has a warm climate.
The average yearly temperature for Knysna is 16,9°C.  Maximum in January - 25°C and July - 18,8°C.  (Ref 1)

Knysna has a temperate, coastal climate with summer temperatures averaging up to 28ºC whilst winter temperatures average up to 13ºC. The climate is typically characterised by hot, humid summers and cool, rainy winters. 

Rainfall
The mean annual rainfall ranges from 700mm at the coast to 1 161mm at Buffelsnek Stn.  (Ref 1)

Maximum rainfall typically occurs during summer. (Ref 5)

Knysna falls within a ‘uniform rainfall zone’, and receives rainfall throughout the year. The average annual rainfall lies between 700 and 900 millimetres per annum, with relatively high rainfall figures in March-April and September- October. Rainfall increases over the higher areas of the Knysna Municipal area to as much as 1 400 millimetres per year. The average annual relative humidity is 88% (Knysna Info).

Wind

Knysna experiences moderate wind conditions throughout the year. Prevailing winds come from the west and north-west during the winter months and from south-east and south-westduring the summer months.
