ROOIELS RIVER ESTUARY: Water Quality |
Physio-chemical Characteristics |
| Data on physio-chemical characteristics have been collected by GF van Wyk in 1958, S Grindley in 1978 and during various ECRU visits to the estuary. It can be expected that during the winter after rains the estuary becomes totally fresh when it assumes the character of a river mouth. In summer however, the water may even become hypersaline due to evaporation, low in-flow from the river and overtopping of the sandbar at high spring tide. (Ref 1) | |
