HOLGAT RIVER ESTUARY: Water Quality

Physio-chemical Characteristics
No data is available other than those collected by the ECRU on 14 October, 1980.  As the only water in the riverbed near the coast in recent years has been in the water trench, the data is minimal. (Ref 1)
At midday on 14 October 1980, the salinity of the water in the trench was 50 parts per thousand, the water transparency was greater the 1m (maximum depth) and the surface water temperature was 21,3°C  (Ref 1)

Pollution
No data is available, other than those collected during the ECRU survey, when globules of crude oil were present on the beach and in the sandy bed of the estuary.
There has been extensive disturbance of sediments by mining operations, both in the riverbed and in the catchment area.  (Ref 1)
