SPOEG RIVER ESTUARY: Climate


General
Heavy fog is prevalent and some moisture is derived from this occurrence (Ref. 5).

Rainfall
Along the west coast, rainfall decreases as one moves north from Cape Town to Namibia (greater than 700 mm to less than 100 mm) (Ref. 3).
The west coast receives very little rainfall. An average annual rainfall of 60mm was measured at Port Nolloth (Ref. 3).
At the Spoeg River Estuary, rainfall is low (less than 100 mm annually) (Ref. 3).

Wind
Strong southerly winds occur along the coast. (Ref. 3 & 6).
