Heavy fog is prevalent and some moisture is derived from this occurrence (Ref. 5). |

Rainfall |
|
Along the west coast, rainfall decreases as one moves north from Cape Town to Namibia (greater than 700 mm to less than 100 mm) (Ref. 3). |

The west coast
receives very little rainfall. An average annual rainfall of 60mm was
measured at Port Nolloth (Ref. 3). |

At the Spoeg River Estuary, rainfall is low (less than 100 mm annually) (Ref. 3). |

Wind |

Strong southerly winds occur along the
