The Pienaars River is a tributary of Moretele River/Crocodile River/Marico River/Limpopo River. The southern area of the Pienaars River catchment is in the urban area of Tshwane Metropolitan Council. North of the Magaliesberg mountains are several developing urban areas. (Ref 1)
The Moretele River starts in Pretoria as the Morelettaspruit, then becomes the Pienaars River.   Inside the Borakalalo National Park boundary, it becomes the Moretele River but reverts back to the Pienaars River on leaving the Park and for about 20km before entering the Crocodile River north of Assen close to the Thabazimbi road.
