The Mhlathuze catchment has a land area of 4
209 km2. The rivers of the Mhlathuze catchment rise along the escarpment
of the Drakensberg mountains and flow eastwards, crossing the Zululand
coastal plain and discharging into the Indian Ocean just south of
Richards Bay. (Ref 1)
