Albasini Dam 25.6 Luvhuvu River. Albasini Dam was built in 1952 and was raised (by means of spillway gates) in 1970/71. This dam was built primarily to supply the Levubu Irrigation Scheme. Ref 2.
  Blyderivierpoort Dam 54.4 "This dam supplies water for irrigation, local industrial and domestic demands and supports the supply from the Phalaborwa Barrage to the urban and industrial centre at Phalaborwa."  (www.csir.co.za/rhp/state_of_rivers/state_of_crocsabieolif_01/olif_eco.htm)

  Bospoort Dam    
  Bronkhorstspruit Dam 57.4 Supplies Bronkhorstspruit and the Western Highveld Region in the Elands River catchment with water for domestic and industrial use. There is also a supply for irrigation.
  Damani Dam 12.4 Ngwedi River. The Damani Dam (built in the mid 1990’s) was originally constructed to supply water to the Damani Coffee Estate (now dormant), which required 4,08 million m³/a. It is now proposed to supply the Damani Regional Water Supply Scheme from this dam. Ref 1.
  Dap Naude 2.04 Broederstroom. The dam is owned by the Polokwane Municipality. Water from the dam is used exclusively to meet domestic and industrial water demands in Polokwane.
  Doorndraai Dam 43.8 Doorndraai Dam is situated on the Sterk River near Mokopane and supplies water to Mokopane as well as to irrigators along the Sterk River. Construction of the dam was completed in 1953 and it was raised in 1975. Ref 1.
  Ebenezer Dam 69.1 Groot Letaba. The Ebenezer Dam was constructed to meet the water demands of domestic and irrigation users . Originally there were two domestic user groups; Tzaneen and Polokwane and its environs. 
  Flag Boshielo Dam 183.2 Was constructed to mainly supply water for irrigation, domestic use and support the transfer of water to Polokwane for domestic use.
  Glen Alpine Dam 19 Mogalakwena River. The dam was completed in 1967 and supplies water to irrigators downstream. Ref 1.
  Hartbeespoort Dam 186.4 Crocodile River.
  Houtrivier Dam 7.5 Situated in the upper reaches of the Hout River, a tributary of the Sand River, and supplies water to small villages near Polokwane. Ref 1.

  Loskop Dam 362 Is used primarily to supply irrigation water to the Loskop Irrigation Board

  Magoebakloof Dam 4.99 The Magoebaskloof Dam  was originally intended to supply irrigation water to the now disbanded Tzaneen Irrigation Board and Sapekoe. However the need later arose for domestic and industrial water in Politsi, Duiwelskloof and Ga-Kgapane.
  Mambedi Dam 7 Mambedi River. The Mambedi Dam is privately owned by the Sapekoe Tea Company. The catchment of the Mambedi stream is mostly on the Sapekoe property. The water from this dam is used by Sapekoe for its tea and coffee plantations. Ref 2.
  Marico-Bosveld Dam 27 Marico River.
  Middelburg Dam 48.1  
  Middle Letaba 172 Molototsi River/Klein Letaba. The Middle Letaba Dam water supply scheme was developed in the late 70's in  to supply water to the domestic and agricultural sectors. Since then the situation changed significantly, with the domestic supply increasing constantly.
  Modjadji 3   Groot Letaba.
  Mokolo Dam 145.4 Mokolo River. The dam was constructed in the late 1970s primarily to supply water to the Matimba power station but the dam also supplies water to the town of Lephalale as well as for irrigation downstream of the dam. Ref 1.
  Molatedi Dam 201 Marico River.
  Nandoni Dam 163 Luvuvhu River.

  Nzelelele Dam 51.2 On the Nzhelele River near the tourist resort of Tshipise.
  Olifantsnek Dam 14  
  Hans Merensky 1.26 Ramadiepa River/Groot Letaba.
  Rietvlei 12.3 Hennops River.
  Roodekopjes Dam 102.3 Crocodile River.
  Roodeplaat Dam 41.2 Pienaars River.

  Thabina 2.80 The Thabina Dam is located in the Thabina River, a tributary of the Letsitele River (a major tributary of the Groot Letaba River). 
  Thapane   The Thapane Dam is located on a tributary of the Groot Letaba River. (Ref.2)
  Tshakhuma Dam 2.1 Barotta River. Tshakhuma Dam was completed in 1990 to supply the Tshakhuma Irrigation scheme.
  Tzaneen Dam 157 Tzaneen Dam is located on the Groot Letaba River close to Tzaneen. This serves mainly the irrigation demand along the Groot Letaba River valley, domestic and industrial water supply to Tzaneen, Nkowakowa, Letsitele, Consolidated Murchison Gold Mine, several other small industrial users and a large number of rural villages.(Ref.2)
  Vaalkop Dam 56  
  Vergelegen Dam 0,3 The Vergelegen Dam  is mainly a balancing dam for accepting water from the Magoebaskloof Dam with some inflow from it’s own catchment. The water stored in the dam is used to irrigate some 435 ha on the Sapekoe Tea Estate and to supply domestic and industrial water to Politsi, Duiwelskloof and Ga-Kgapane. (Ref.2)
  Vondo Dam 30.4 Mutshindudi River. Vondo Dam was completed in 1982 to provide domestic/industrial water for Thohoyandou and its surrounding areas. This was then raised in 1992 to increase the dam’s storage capacity six-fold to 30,5 million m³. Ref 1.
  Witbank Dam 104 Meets  the urban and industrial demands of the Witbank and Middelburg centres.
