The Luvhuvu River is part of the Luvuvhu/Letaba Water Management Area as defined by Water Affairs and Forestry (Ref.1). 
The Luvuvhu River catchment covers a total area of 3 800kmē. Ref 1.
The confluence of the Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers forms the common point where South Africa borders on both Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
