The "mouth" (not reaching the sea) is approximately 50 km south of the Olifants River mouth. The catchment area is approximately 750 sq.km.
The Jakkals river is a  small seasonal river that originate on the mountain slopes west of Clanwilliam and terminate in Wadrif and Jakkalsvlei pans, respectively. All the rivers eventually drain into the Atlantic Ocean. (www.csir.co.za/rhp/state_of_rivers/WCape/OlifantsDoring06.pdf)
